Survey of Ads

Survey of Ads

Q Some ads are designed to entertain, amuse, provoke a discussion, instruct, advocate, move to action, or condemn. Below are some examples that represent a range of different intentions and methods. Analyze at least one that you think is compelling, interesting, fun, controversial, and/or successful, and explain what makes them effective. Discuss it in terms of its persuasive appeals: ethos, logos, and pathos. Ultimately, answer the question: If it promotes an idea or advocates an action, "Does it succeed in its message?" If it's a product, "Does it sell the product?" OR, do your own survey of ads and identify one that you think is especially effective, write a commentary about the reasons, and post the link to it. Why did this one catch your attention? Do the same analysis on it as described above. Minimum word count: 350 In your peer responses (see Syllabus schedule--March 1st is during Break), look at the writer's reactions and what they have identified as effective and agree/disagree, supporting your reasons in your reply. If you do not post at least two repliess, it will be marked "Incomplete." Can you Spot the Signs? (Links to an external site.) "Friends Furever" (Links to an external site.) What are girls made of? In my opinion, the ad “Friends Furever” was designed to leave the viewer with warm and happy emotions. The ad features various animal who are unlikely to be friends who appear to be best friends having the best time together. There were chicks and a kitten who were cuddled up together. This gave me a delightful feeling. The puppy and the baby lion playing together were cute. The dog pushing the cat in the baby stroller was precious. This reminded me of when I was young pushing my pretend babies in a stroller.
